Common Sense – (1 skill point) This skill is only available to new characters. The Ref will give you warnings and advice that they feel would be of use to you i.e. sticking you hand in the acid isn’t a good plan same as telling the guards they smell like an orc. They won’t help you solve puzzles or other game ruining stuff, just help you avoid killing yourself because you’re stupid. After a while you will get back the skill point and lose this ability due to you…hopefully?...learning enough common sense yourself.
Good Memory for Names – (1 skill point) You can remember any name you have been told perfectly and can ask the referee to remind you. This can be a person, place or item name but nothing else.
Strong Swimmer – (3 skill points) You have trained to swim in armour and keep you self afloat. While wearing armour chain mail or lighter you may not only keep afloat but also move at a reasonable speed. Heavyer armour wearers will be able to only keep afloat but that’s better than sinking to your death.
Traitors Shield – (5 skill points) Characters with this skill take -1 damage to the first blow to your back in each combat, only attacks from stealth or ones the character is unaware of are affected. Damage can be reduced to nothing through this skill.
Lay Believer – (3 skill points) Your faith in a deity has been rewarded with you being granted powers over the undead. You will need a Holy Symbol and also choose a God to follow in order to use this ability. You may hold back the un-dead creatures by calling upon the name of the god and brandishing your holy symbol, this forces the target creature to remain at least 5 paces away from you – only low level un-dead can be affected. Furthermore, characters with power points have a bonus ability – they are able to dismiss demons and undead. By brandishing your holy symbol and spending a power point, you will cause a single dismiss to the target demon/un-dead. You gain no other benefits from following a god…yet.
Light Sleeper – (2 skill points) It takes very little to wake you from dreamland and what’s better is that it’s more often than not something dangerous too. If you are asleep and attacked you may instantly wake up and be aware of what’s going on around you.
Weatherworn – (4 skill points) You’ve travelled far and wide and endured every condition going. You ignore penalties from weather effects unless there are of extreme or dangerous conditions. No… you’re not immune to lightning bolts or able walk through hurricanes but you would not freeze to death as quick in the frozen north or suffer heatstroke in the Burning Sands like people without this skill.
Speak New Language – (varies) To speak a new language you will need to speak your own native tongue and common as well. The points cost varies depending on how difficult or rare the language is, common languages can be learnt almost anywhere and for very little. Uncommon languages need a teacher and these do not come free, Rare languages will require also need a teacher but these will be difficult to find or even convince to teach you let alone what they will charge.

Bigger Than Average – (3 skill points) This skill is only available to new characters. You are bigger than normal for your race and this lets you take more of a beating than you could normally stand. You gain a permanent extra hit point on your chest, back and head locations. Unfortunately as you are so big you cant move as fast so you permanently lose you one of your starting floating hits. You may also get teased a lot or find it difficult getting in to small places.
